Republican senators have been riding a majority they didn’t fully earn.
And conservative grassroots organizer Scott Presler just made clear that patience with the Senate’s stalling has run out.
Presler told Breitbart News Saturday that the message to every GOP senator who won’t deliver is simple: “you either deliver or we are going to get rid of you.”
A Majority That Won’t Use Its Power
Presler, founder of Early Vote Action, appeared on Breitbart News Saturday and sharply criticized Senate Republicans, calling it “very disingenuous” for most senators to claim they are fighting to protect elections while doing nothing to pass the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility America Act.
Presler put the core problem plainly: “How do I make the case as a conservative activist trying to drum up support for Republicans when, as the majority controlling all three branches of government, we are incapable of delivering the very campaign promises that elected the majority we have today?”
That is not a rhetorical flourish. That is a real organizing problem, and Presler knows it better than most.
He pointed to what he described as illegal aliens on voter rolls in Pennsylvania who were “actively registered” and voting, adding, “We’re finding them in Michigan and Arizona.”
Presler cited figures concerning noncitizen voter registrations, asserting that “6,600 non-citizens” were registered in New Jersey and that 400 voted, before invoking the 2000 presidential election: “Please look me up. Fact check me. Bush v. Gore was decided by 537 votes,” he said.
Presler further claimed there are “250,000 non-citizens on the voter rolls in California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Nevada.” Those figures, attributed to Presler, are part of an ongoing investigation he has been conducting by cross-referencing non-juror lists with state voter rolls. Homeland Security separately said it identified 14,576 names on Pennsylvania’s public voter database that could be noncitizens, and spotted more than 190,000 questionable names on California’s rolls, 35,152 for New Jersey, and 15,903 in Nevada.
“This is an existential crisis. This is a constitutional crisis,” Presler said.
What the SAVE Act Actually Does
The legislation itself is not complicated. Presler said it “only provides for two things: proof of citizenship and photo voter ID,” explaining that already-registered voters would not have to register again but would instead go through the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements, or SAVE, database.
According to an October 2024 Gallup poll, 83 percent of American voters support requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote. And yet the Senate has sat on the bill for months.
The effort has evolved into a standoff with Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD), who has argued there is insufficient support to overcome the 60-vote filibuster threshold. But Presler is not buying that explanation, and he has the receipts to back up his skepticism.
Presler argued that Republicans might already have a 60-vote Senate majority had election-integrity legislation been enacted years earlier, pointing to Mike Rogers’ narrow 2024 loss and losses in Arizona and Nevada, where he said Laxalt lost by 8,000 votes in 2022. “It is disingenuous for any Republican senator to say that we don’t have the votes when we could have the votes had we simply passed election integrity,” he said.
Thune’s filibuster defense is, at best, a convenient excuse. Senate Republicans who claim the 60-vote threshold makes the SAVE Act impossible rarely display the same urgency about what happens when Democrats regain the majority and eliminate the filibuster themselves on day one. Democrats will scrap it the moment they are back in power, and then they will move to pack the courts, grant amnesty to illegal aliens, and lock in a permanent electoral advantage. The senators clinging to the filibuster as a shield are handing their opponents a loaded weapon and calling it statesmanship.
The SAVE America Act has languished in the upper chamber despite pressure from President Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers, with Thune resisting changes to Senate rules to pass the bill without the 60 votes needed to clear the filibuster.
Names Named, Seats Targeted
Presler did not leave anyone guessing about who he has in his sights.
Looking ahead to 2028, Presler singled out Senators John Thune (R-SD), John Barrasso (R-WY), Tim Scott (R-SC), and James Lankford (R-OK) as senators he said activists should be prepared to challenge.
“They need to know if you do not deliver what 84% of Americans want, we are coming for your seats peacefully,” Presler said, adding that activists should be prepared to “take you out” electorally as he said voters had done in Louisiana and Texas.
And that is not an idle threat. Presler had openly targeted Senators Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and John Cornyn (R-TX) because he viewed them as Thune’s “most staunch allies” protecting Thune’s resistance to passing the SAVE Act. Cassidy finished third in the Republican primary in Louisiana, beaten in a landslide by Trump-aligned candidates. In Texas, Attorney General Ken Paxton crushed incumbent Senator Cornyn in the Republican runoff, winning by nearly 40 points.
Thune’s own state party has already moved to censure him. Grassroots conservative activist Scott Presler was in attendance when a South Dakota GOP committee voted to send a resolution to the state party condemning Thune’s failure to pass the SAVE America Act.
But Thune is an establishment Republican who prefers the pre-Trump party, and his public expressions of support for the America First agenda have consistently diverged from his actions. He has used procedural resistance dressed up as caution to constrain MAGA influence, and the base is done pretending otherwise.
Presler said one of the most important actions voters can take is to approach their senators directly at town halls and other public events. “How many of you guys show up to town halls?” he asked. “When they’re at fairs and festivals, I want you to peacefully approach them. I want you to go up to them. Why haven’t you delivered for us?” He rejected the argument that Democrats make election-integrity legislation impossible to pass, listing several procedural approaches he believes Republicans could pursue.
President Trump has made his position equally clear. Trump posted, “I, as President, will not sign other Bills until this is passed, AND NOT THE WATERED DOWN VERSION – GO FOR THE GOLD: MUST SHOW VOTER I.D. & PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP: NO MAIL-IN BALLOTS EXCEPT FOR MILITARY – ILLNESS, DISABILITY, TRAVEL: NO MEN IN WOMEN’S SPORTS: NO TRANSGENDER MUTILIZATION FOR CHILDREN! DO NOT FAIL!!!”
Presler Is Not Stopping
None of this is a bluff, and Presler made sure to say so.
Despite his criticism, Presler said he does not intend to abandon his organizing work. “I promise, I’m not going to stop. I’m going to continue,” he said, adding that Early Vote Action is continuing its efforts in Pennsylvania.
Presler said Republicans are “25,811 active voters from flipping the state” and argued that “just because the Senate is derelict in its duties doesn’t mean that activists like myself are going to give up the responsibility.”
Presler said he is “all in” on helping Republicans retain Scott Perry, Rob Bresnahan, and others he identified as members of Congress in Pennsylvania needed to help Republicans keep the House for President Donald Trump and, in his words, “ensure that in 2028 we have the ability to win.”
But the larger picture here is not just Pennsylvania, or even the SAVE Act. What Presler is doing is building the infrastructure to hold the Republican Party accountable to the people who actually elected it. The 2024 mandate was real. Voters sent Republicans to Washington to secure elections, secure the border, and stop the institutional rot that has been eating at the country for decades. The Senate’s response has been to slow-walk, stall, and hide behind procedural objections that conveniently protect the same senators who would rather see the party drift back toward its pre-Trump donor class than deliver for working Americans.
Presler’s warning is not complicated: deliver, or get replaced. Peacefully. Democratically. Through the primary process that the establishment has always relied on to protect its own. And if the senators named this week don’t believe him, they might want to call Bill Cassidy and ask him how that worked out.
Presler urged listeners to “get angry peacefully,” attend events, make their voices heard, and tell senators that “you either deliver or we are going to get rid of you.”
