Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas went nuclear.

Thomas didn’t mince words.

And Clarence Thomas just issued a warning about the left that every American needs to hear.

As American Patriot Daily reports:

In a speech at the University of Texas Law School commemorating America’s 250th anniversary, Thomas sounded the alarm that progressivism represented a threat to American unity.

“It has coexisted uneasily with the principles of the Declaration because it is opposed to those principles,” Thomas declared. “It is not possible for the two to coexist forever.”

Liberals contend the Constitution is a living document that must evolve with the times, which is how Democratic Supreme Court justices invented so-called “rights” to abortion and homosexual marriage.

Thomas warned that this dangerous belief system would lead to big government running amok and trampling over Americans’ God-given freedoms.

“America needed to leave behind the principles of the founding and catch up with the more advanced and sophisticated system of relatively unimpeded state power, nearly perfect, perfected,” Thomas added.

Thomas explained that progressivism was a true revolution in that it sought to replace the limited government framework adopted by the Founders, as well as the belief that our rights come from God.

“Progressivism seeks to replace the basic premises of the Declaration of Independence and hence our form of government,” Thomas added. “It holds that our rights and our dignities come not from God, but from government.”

Thomas then quoted former President Calvin Coolidge to explain that progressives sought to topple America’s constitutional order because doing so was the only path to imposing their vision that the government is the source of all rights and authority.

“If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with unalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final,” Thomas quoted Coolidge as saying.

Thomas traced the rise of progressivism to former Democrat President Woodrow Wilson, widely regarded as one of the worst Presidents in American history.

Wilson enacted the income tax and created the Federal Reserve, took America into World War 1 and then shredded the First Amendment by jailing critics.

Thomas argued that the “century of progressivism” led to disaster, especially in Europe, where Hitler and Stalin murdered tens of millions, and yet Wilson and other progressives demanded America adopt a similar socialist system of government.

“The century of progressivism did not go well,” Thomas added. “The European system that Wilson and the progressives scolded Americans for not adopting, which he called nearly perfect, led to the governments that caused the most awful century that the world has ever seen.”

Thomas said Americans now faced a moment of reckoning similar to that faced by the signers of the Declaration of Independence when they chose to stand up to the tyrannical British Monarchy.

“In my view, we must find in ourselves that same level of courage that the signers of the Declaration have so that we can do for our future what they did for theirs,” Thomas remarked.

Thomas said that if today’s Americans didn’t also choose to fight for freedom and liberty, they would lose the America the founders fought for.

“I think if we don’t stand up and take ownership of our country, and take responsibility for it, we are slowly letting others control how we think and what we think,” Thomas concluded.
