California Senator Adam Schiff is President Trump’s arch-nemesis.
But Democrats were left wishing Schiff hadn’t picked this fight.
And Adam Schiff launched this unreal accusation at Trump that instantly blew up in his face.
Trump warned Iran that a massive attack was incoming since it hadn’t agreed to a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the war.
“At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets, much like we have with Venezuela,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Hours later, Trump announced that “discussions and final points” on a deal had been brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved, and thus, he was calling off the attack.
In typical fashion, CNN seized on the announcement of an impending deal to whine that Trump didn’t escalate the war.
Host Kaitlan Collins asked Schiff whether Trump’s failure to follow through on his announced attack damaged Trump’s and America’s credibility.
“You know, as a senator, I mean, and to one who’s been in Washington a long time as a congressman before this, how do you read into it when the president does post something like he does this morning, saying that strikes are happening tonight, that the United States is going to seize Kharg Island, we’re going to take over Iran’s oil and gas. I mean, do you take it seriously when he says it in the moment? Because obviously, he walked it back five hours later,” Collins wondered.
Of course, if Trump followed through with a ground invasion of Kharg Island, CNN and Democrats would have attacked Trump as a warmonger.
Schiff claimed that Trump had no credibility and no grand strategy.
“It lacks a lot of credibility. And when the president says later in the day that a deal has been reached, that also lacks credibility. And this is the problem when the president squanders his credibility by telling falsehood after falsehood throughout the course of this presidency and his last, and that is, the American people really don’t know when to believe him,” Schiff began.
“And I don’t think there’s anything strategic about that ambiguity. It doesn’t make us stronger that we can’t trust our own president. So I’m not sure what to make of it. Only time will tell whether there is a deal, whether we’re back at war, whether there is a deal worth making, or whether it is merely a face-saving gesture. But one thing is clear: a tremendous amount of damage has been done, and American families are paying the price, with higher gas and food prices. And the president’s promise to keep us out of foreign wars and has promised to focus so much on the cost of living to the exclusion of other things. He has broken both of those promises spectacularly,” Schiff added.
Schiff isn’t one to question anyone’s credibility, as he made his name spending years on CNN and MSNBC falsely claiming first that Trump colluded with Russia in the 2016 campaign and then that Trump incited an insurrection on January 6.
