Carville is as partisan a Democrat as they come.
But now James Carville just begged Democrats to surrender in a fight that no one thought possible.
Carville guided Clinton to the White House by keeping the election focused on the slogan of “it’s the economy, stupid.”
Today, Carville is terrified Democrats are the wrong side of multiple 80/20 issues, which keeps the party boxed in as an extremist collection out of touch with the concerns of everyday voters.
On his Politics War Room podcast, Carville urged Democrats to drop their objection to voter ID, which Carville admitted polls at 75% with the American people.
Carville also admitted the Democrat attack on voter ID as “Jim Crow 2” as nonsense since there were various forms of identification voters could use.
“It exists on such a minuscule scale, and it’s been proven time and time and time again, but I don’t know if we’re not better off saying, okay, we’ll take that alternative ID, bring your gas bill or your light bill or something. Because for whatever reason, it polls at 75%,” he declared.
Carvill said this was an unwinnable fight for Democrats and tried to make the back down go smoother for the left by falsely claiming voter fraud rarely happens.
“We are not gonna win the war against some kind of ID. It doesn’t make any sense. It doesn’t fix anything. But maybe just go along with it and move to the next thing,” Carville added.
Carville’s comments come in the wake of New Jersey Governor Mickie Sherrill’s bombshell announcement that the state found 6,600 noncitizens on the voter rolls and that hundreds had illegally cast ballots.
Those 6,600 noncitizens on the voter rolls were just the tip of the iceberg.
23 other states have laws like New Jersey, where anyone who gets a driver’s license is automatically registered to vote.
There is no telling how many noncitizens are on voter rolls and casting ballots in America.
This led to renewed calls from President Trump and his fellow Republicans to pass the SAVE Act, which would require proof of citizenship to vote as well as mandating voter ID and ending mass mail-in balloting.
Carville’s co-host Albert Hunt agreed that Democrats should support voter ID.
“I never had a problem with it. I’m just saying of all the things… if every poll shows 75 or better, saying we should have some kind of ID to vote… just quit fighting it and go along with it and move to the next thing,” Hunt stated.
This was a strategic retreat.
Conservatives contend that Carville urged Democrats to tap out on voter ID in the hopes of taking the steam out of the need to pass the SAVE Act, since the proof of citizenship to register to vote keeps illegal aliens off voter rolls and mass mail-in voting are the main sources of election fraud.
