President Trump declared war on Iran.

Trump made the biggest call of his Presidency.

And what Donald Trump has planned for Iran will leave you speechless.

President Trump won control of the Republican Party by harnessing the populist conservative backlash to the endless regime change wars Republicans and Democrats waged in the Middle East.

One of Trump’s most popular campaign promises was no new wars.

So when Trump launched a new war against Iran, Americans wanted to know if they would avoid another Iraq or Afghanistan-style quagmire.

ABC’s Jonathan Karl put the question to President Trump.

“How long do you think this will last?” Karl wondered.

As usual, President Trump sought to keep his options open and wouldn’t commit to any specific end date even though he declared the initial round of strikes a success.

“As long as we want it to, actually. But it’s done such damage already. It’s like — they are incapacitated, essentially,” Trump stated.

Since regime change was Trump’s announced goal, Karl wondered what type of government the U.S. would install know that the operation resulted in the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

“What do you think the next leadership looks like? Have you identified anybody?” Karl followed up.

Trump played coy and wouldn’t tip his hand as to the next step in regime change.

“Yes. We have a very good idea,” Trump replied.

In an earlier interview with Axios, Trump suggested the war could continue indefinately but he would be fine with a deal that kept the current regime in place if it pledged to abandon its nuclear program.

“I can go long and take over the whole thing, or end it in two or three days and tell the Iranians: ‘See you again in a few years if you start rebuilding [your nuclear and missile programs],” Trump told reporter Barak Ravid.

When Trump announced the war, he pledged America’s help to the Iranian people to overthrow the regime.

“Finally, to the great, proud people of Iran, I say tonight that the hour of your freedom is at hand. Stay sheltered. Don’t leave your home. It’s very dangerous outside. Bombs will be dropping everywhere. When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take. This will probably be your only chance for generations,” Trump declared.

But Trump never likes to tip his hand.

And now everyone is guessing about his next move in Iran.
