Trump Refuses to Endorse Thune for Another Term As Senate Leader
RINO Senate Majority Leader John Thune continues to fail to move Trump’s agenda through the Senate.
The sticking point is the SAVE Act, which Thune claims he can’t pass because Democrats are filibustering the bill.
Trump offered Thune multiple avenues to pass this critical election security bill: eliminate the filibuster, force the Democrats to stage a talking filibuster that must end at some point, as Democrats can’t speak forever, or include the legislation as part of a reconciliation bill that Republicans can pass with a simple majority vote.
Thune shot down every solution.
Trump is clearly fed up with Thune and refused to endorse him for another term as Senate leader in an interview with Punch Bowl News.
“I don’t want to get into that necessarily,” Trump stated.
Trump didn’t want a direct war with Thune at the moment because Trump still needs Thune to pass key priorities like legislation to establish national rules for college sports and a defense funding bill, so Trump said he didn’t go nuclear on Thune.
“I get along with him. It’s unfortunate that he doesn’t have the votes,” Trump added.
“John’s trying. He’s trying hard. I really believe that. But if he doesn’t get there, it would be unfortunate,” Trump continued.
Trump’s Warning About the Filibuster
But Trump didn’t; mince words about what would happen if Thune failed to eliminate the filibuster and pass the SAVE Act.
“I believe strongly in terminating the filibuster, and by the way, getting SAVE America Act approved immediately, and about 400 other things in every hour of every day,” Trump began.
Thune offered every excuse under the sun about why he can’t abolish the filibuster,
“Well maybe [Leavitt] or somebody else ought to get on the phone and get the votes, right?” Thune ranted to reporters when White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump lost “patience” with Thune.
“It’s 50 around here, and so instead of, you know, pointing the finger at Republicans, they might think about going after the people who are stopping it on the floor, which is the Democrats, and if there are Republicans that they think are gettable, get on the phone,” Thune continued.
Trump warned that if Republicans didn’t act, terminating the filibuster would be the Democrat Party’s first order of business upon taking power, and they would impose a number of power grabs like packing the Supreme Court, eliminating the Electoral College, adding new blue states and giving amnesty to illegal aliens to establish permanent Democrat rule.
“If they get in, they’re going to do it very quickly,” Trump declared. “I would do it whether they did it or not. We would get in the next two and a half years; we would get things that nobody ever dreamt of. We would be in office for the next hundred years.”
