President Trump was grinning from ear to ear about what he saw go down at the Supreme Court.
One of the left’s biggest election weapons is about to go bye-bye.
And the Supreme Court is about to make Democrats cry by ending this election scam.
The Supreme Court heard oral arguments in a lawsuit brought by the Republican Party against a Mississippi law that allowed the state to count mail-in ballots received up to five days after Election Day.
14 states have such laws on the books.
Joe Biden won the 2020 election in large part because key swing states that were run by Democrats allowed endless counting on mail-in ballots until Biden won.
Oral arguments showed the Supreme Court was highly skeptical of these schemes, and the conservative majority appeared ready to strike them down.
Justice Brett Kavanaugh said mail-in ballot free-for-alls opened the door to allegations of fraud and a loss of confidence in elections.
“If the apparent winner the morning after the election ends up losing due to late-arriving ballots, charges of a rigged election could explode,” Kavanaugh stated.
Justice Neil Gorsuch asked Paul Clement, the lawyer representing the Republican Party, if the Supreme Court ruled against them, could there be any limiting principle on counting mail-in ballots received after Election Day?
“If we were to rule against you, is there anything that would limit a state from allowing a receipt by election officials up until the day of the next Congress?” Gorsuch wondered.
Clement agreed and said that Election Day should mean Election Day and warned the justices that a nightmare would ensue if they allowed states to count ballots received days and weeks after voting ended.
“Maybe the next state can figure out a way to have an election without anybody even receiving anything, I don’t know,” Clement replied. “That seems to me to be a large reason why Election Day should mean ‘Election Day.’”
Justice Samuel Alito picked up on that theme and emphasized how other holidays are actual days, and yet Democrats want Election Day to turn into Election weeks or months.
“We have lots of phrases that involve two words, the second of which is ‘day,’” Alito began and then listed “Labor Day, Memorial Day, George Washington’s birthday,” and Independence Day, before adding that “they are all particular ‘days.'”
“So if we start with that, if I have nothing more to look at than the phrase ‘Election Day,'” Alito continued. “I think this is the day in which everything is going to take place, or almost everything.”
The Supreme Court is expected to issue a ruling in June.
That will be plenty of time to eliminate laws that allow for states to count mail-in ballots received after Election Day for the 2026 midterms.
