A Senate candidate won his primary fair and square.
Then party bosses cut his money and plotted his exit.
Chuck Schumer got the poll he needed, and voters got overruled.

Graham Platner posted a video to social media announcing he was dropping out of the Maine Senate race.
“My name might be on the ballot right now, but that ballot line belongs to the people of Maine,” Platner wrote in the caption to his video.
In the video, Platner denied the allegations of rape and that he removed a condom without the knowledge of the woman he was having sex with, from two ex-girlfriends.
“As many of you know, over the past couple of days, I have faced some very serious allegations,” Platner stated. “I just want to make it clear: this is all false. The things that have been claimed did not happen. It’s not real.”
Platner explained that he was ending his campaign because national Democrats made it impossible for him to continue by cutting off his fundraising and denying him access to campaign infrastructure, such as voter data.
“We are suspending our campaign operations,” Platner added. “This is incredibly difficult because I know that some will think it’s an admission of guilt and it most certainly is not. We’re not doing it because of the allegations; we’re doing it because of the structures that are being taken away from us by those in power. And I also feel an immense amount of responsibility to everyone who has worked so hard to get us where we are. We went toe to toe with one of the most entrenched political systems in the history of the world, and we won.”
Platner blamed the establishment, which he said was designed to crush movements like the one he built.
“It is a system that is built structurally to make sure that movements like ours cannot flourish,” Platner declared.
Chuck Schumer recruited 78-year-old Maine Governor Janet Mills into this race to challenge Republican incumbent Susan Collins.
But the elderly, establishment-approved Mills didn’t fit the angry, socialist-ascendant moment on the left.
Mills dropped out of the race when it was clear Platner would crush her in the primary.
Ever since that moment, national Democrats like Schumer have schemed to push Platner out of the race and nominate a safer candidate.
Democrats stuck by Platner until it became apparent he couldn’t win.
An internal poll showing Platner trailing Collins by five points showed the race was hopeless if Platner continued.

Maine Democratic insiders will now hold a convention to pick a new nominee.
And just like in 2024, party elites thwarted the will of the voters by forcing out the candidate who won the primary just because the establishment judged that they couldn’t win.
That should end any talk of Democrats being the party of democracy.
