Glenn Beck’s critics once treated his pantry warnings like the ravings of a man selling bunker supplies.
Then the advice started coming from places nobody can laugh off so easily.
And Glenn Beck just sketched out how the next crisis could land on Americans’ front porches.
Beck Hasn’t Sounded an Alarm Like This Since the Year Before the Crash
In a video released in late October 2026, Beck delivered the kind of message he says he has saved for only one other moment in his career.
“I want to tell you to prepare for impact. And this is something that I don’t say lightly,” Beck said.
The last time he talked like that, by his own account, came in 2007. “Last time I said something like this was 2007 . . . And you know what happened in 2008,” he said.
Most folks over 60 don’t need a refresher on 2008. Lehman Brothers went under, retirement statements turned into horror stories, and Washington answered with a bailout for the same banks that lit the fire.
Beck then took the warning to X. “I told you to prepare for impact. And if you haven’t already, you need to start,” he wrote.
But the post went further than a pep talk. “America isn’t going to be the exception. If a crisis hits here or the grid goes dark, nobody from Washington will show up to save you right away,” Beck wrote.
The doomsday scenario he laid out doesn’t involve tanks rolling down Main Street. Beck pictured something messier and closer to home, with “power grids, water systems probed and bombed or destroyed,” neighborhoods in crisis, and “the state no longer fully controlling it.”
“And I hope and pray I’m wrong. But massive war is coming,” he said.
London and Tokyo Just Handed Out Beck’s Shopping List
Beck didn’t pull the idea out of thin air. Britain’s Cabinet Office launched a campaign called Be Ready on October 22, 2026, the opening phase of a three-year push asking every household to hold out for three days without power, water, phones, or the internet.
The government’s own pitch sounds like something Beck might read on the air. “Being ready for three days helps you manage while support reaches those in need,” the campaign site says.
Security Minister Dan Jarvis said the move “brings the UK into line with many of our European peers who also have the three-day message at the heart of their campaign.” British shoppers took the hint, and wind-up radios sold out at several retailers within days of the checklist going live.
Japan went further. Disaster Management Minister Goshi Hosono told a Fuji TV online program that families should stock “at least three days’ worth, and a week’s worth if possible.”
Then Hosono added a line that could have come straight off Beck’s X account. “Please prepare enough food, toilet supplies and water at home so that you can manage even without public support from the government,” he said.
Tokyo plans to make the request official on November 2, timed to the launch of a brand-new national disaster agency.
Australians got the memo too. Queensland’s government teamed up with Woolworths on an emergency checklist covering up to five days, from rice and baked beans to batteries and toilet paper. Australian Red Cross official Nichola Krey said her countrymen should “absolutely” follow Britain and Japan, and RMIT disaster expert Lucy Lunevich urged families to keep a full month of food on hand so they’re “prepared for anything.”
A month. In 2010, Beck’s critics would have called that hoarding.
Dan Bongino landed in the same spot on his podcast after Fox News reported on the Pentagon’s FORTRESS plan to keep major military bases running for 90 days without outside help. “You have to make Fortress My House, Fortress My Apartment,” the former FBI Deputy Director said. He also made clear the goal isn’t fear: “There is nothing wrong with being prepared. It’s not panicking or anything like that.”
Beck read the FORTRESS plan the same way. “It’s requiring now to have their own power, its own water, its own fuel, its own food and be able to close those gates and run for 90 days,” he said.
Chew on that for a second. The Pentagon doesn’t plan for three months of isolation because it expects the power company to show up by lunchtime.
Beck’s Old Hecklers Have a Problem They Can’t Laugh Off
Rewind to 2010. Beck was hosting his Fox News show and telling viewers to put away food storage, and his critics treated every word like a punchline.
Grist sneered that Beck was peddling food insurance as the end times drew near. Media Matters filed his warnings under the headline “Glenn Beck’s Apocalypse for Dummies.” And the Southern Poverty Law Center, never shy about smearing conservatives, logged his food-shortage predictions on its Hatewatch blog.
Hatewatch. For telling people to keep rice in the basement.
Beck would be the first to admit he hasn’t hit every target. In late 2010, he warned that tens of millions of Americans could be going hungry by the following January, and that never happened.
He owned that record in the new video. “I have warned you about things that have come true. I have warned you about things that haven’t come true and I hope this is one of those that don’t come true,” Beck said.
But a prediction and a precaution aren’t the same animal. Nobody has to buy Beck’s forecast about war to see the sense in a few cases of bottled water. He made that point himself: “A government asking you to keep 3 days of water is asking you to do what your grandmother did without being told.”
His detractors always had one more card to play. Beck has pitched emergency food companies on his shows for years, and the left never let anybody forget it. Fine. But Goshi Hosono isn’t selling freeze-dried stroganoff, and Britain’s Cabinet Office doesn’t take a sponsor’s cut.
And Americans already ran this experiment once. In March 2020, toilet paper vanished, meat cases went bare, and governors ordered businesses shut while telling everybody to trust the experts.
“Do you remember what happened during COVID? If you think that’s bad, imagine war,” Beck said.
Federal help has a habit of showing up late, too. After Hurricane Katrina hit in August 2005, plenty of families sat on rooftops and in shelters for days before the cavalry arrived.
So Beck kept the homework simple. Store a gallon of water per person for each day, buy extra of the canned goods the family already eats a little at a time, line up a 90-day supply of prescriptions, pack a grab-and-go bag with important documents, and keep the gas tank above half. “Start with simple things. If they say 3 days, do 2 weeks,” he said.
He also told viewers to get to know the neighbors. That may be the most old-fashioned advice in the whole video, and maybe the most useful. Small towns ran on it for generations: the fellow down the road with a generator, the widow who cans more tomatoes than she could eat in three winters.
But Beck saved his best image for last. “When a pilot says brace for impact, he’s not screaming. He’s calm because he knows what’s going to happen next, and he wants you to know it, too, so you are not freaking out,” he said.
Maybe the war Beck fears never comes. He says he prays it doesn’t.
Either way, the pantry list that once got Glenn Beck laughed at now carries an official seal in London, Tokyo, and Queensland.
