President Trump gathered his top advisors.
Military action is on the table.
And Donald Trump asked his top general one question that led to one startling response.
President Trump is deciding whether to order military strikes against Iran over the nuclear program.
Trump ordered a strike last June, “Operation Midnight Hammer,” that Trump said obliterated Iran’s nuclear program.
But now Trump is musing about launching a regime change war.
And President Trump’s top advisors are warning him that an expanded campaign against Iran is far riskier than the earlier one-and-done missions he ordered in Venezuela and Iran.
“Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine has been advising President Trump and top officials that a military campaign against Iran could carry significant risks, in particular the possibility of becoming entangled in a prolonged conflict, according to two sources with knowledge of those internal discussions,” Axios reported.
Chairman Caine is more hesitant about the capacity to pull off a regime change war in Iran.
“While Caine was all-in on the Venezuela operation, he has been more cautious in the discussions around Iran, two sources said,” Axios added.
Caine is a loyal soldier who will follow orders from the Commander-in-Chief, but regime change war against Iran, a country of over 90 million people, isn’t his first choice.
“Citing that contrast, one source described Caine as a “reluctant warrior” in Iran. Caine sees the stakes of a major operation in Iran as higher, with a greater risk for entanglement and American casualties, the two sources said,” Axios also reported.
Vice President J.D. Vance joined Caine in making the President aware of all the risks involved in waging regime change war against Iran.
“One source confirmed the VP had been raising questions about the risks and complexity of the operation with military and national security officials, but denied he was outright opposed to striking Iran,” Axios went on to report.
For his part, Trump disputed the stories and claimed Caine told him that war with Iran would be “easily won.”
“Numerous stories from the Fake News Media have been circulating stating that General Daniel Caine, sometimes referred to as Razin, is against us going to War with Iran. The story does not attribute this vast wealth of knowledge to anyone, and is 100% incorrect,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“General Caine, like all of us, would like not to see war, but if a decision is made on going against Iran at a Military level, it is his opinion that it will be something easily won. He knows Iran well in that he was in charge of Midnight Hammer, the attack on the Iranian Nuclear Development,” Trump added.
“It is a Development no longer, but rather, was blown to smithereens by our Great B-2 Bombers. Razin Caine is a Great Fighter and represents the Most Powerful Military anywhere in the World. He has not spoken of not doing Iran, or even the fake limited strikes that I have been reading about; he only knows one thing, how to WIN, and, if he is told to do so, he will be leading the pack,” Trump continued.
“Everything that has been written about a potential War with Iran has been written incorrectly, and purposefully so. I am the one who makes the decision. I would rather have a Deal than not. If we don’t make a Deal, it will be a very bad day for that Country and, very sadly, its people, because they are great and wonderful, and something like this should never have happened to them,” Trump concluded.
The decision to initiate a regime change war against Iran could be the most consequential decision of his Presidency.
Trump’s top advisors want him to be aware of all the options and risks.
