Democrats haven’t won a single gavel yet, but they’re already sharpening their subpoena pens.

Their wish list starts with the richest man on Earth and the GOP’s biggest donor.

And Elon Musk just answered with a warning that should make one group of Democrats very nervous.

Democrats Draw Up a Hit List Before Anyone Counts the Votes

Politico laid out the plan in a piece with a headline that didn’t leave much to the imagination: “Dem gavels are coming for Elon Musk.”

Senior Democrats on a long list of House committees have started mapping out how they would go after Musk and his companies if they take back power in the midterms. Tesla. SpaceX. DOGE. Federal contracts. Everything sits on the table.

And the list keeps growing.

US Representative Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), the top Democrat on the House Space, Science and Technology Committee, didn’t bother hiding her eagerness.

“The sheer number of conflicts of interest are astounding,” Lofgren said.

US Representative Greg Meeks (D-NY), the ranking Democrat on House Foreign Affairs, demanded “a full accounting of the damage” from Musk and DOGE. Meeks singled out what he called “the cruel dismantling of USAID” as a prime target for his panel.

But Democrats with no obvious connection to Musk want in on the action too. Congresswoman Maxine Dexter (D-OR), who sits on the Natural Resources and Veterans Affairs committees, lumped Musk in with “the well-connected billionaire, trillionaires who have seen government contracts as a way to subsidize their own company’s research, development, and bottom line.”

“We need to shut that down,” Dexter said.

Trillionaires. Apparently the Left now has to invent brand-new wealth categories just to keep someone around to be mad at.

Musk Fires Back With a Line Straight Out of Scripture

Musk read the report and didn’t wait long to respond on X.

“Live by the sword, die by the sword,” Musk wrote. “Those who pick fights with me should understand that I will find out who is really pulling the strings and come for them, not just their puppets . . .”

The first line echoes Jesus’ warning to Peter in the Gospel of Matthew. The second line is pure Musk.

He didn’t name names. And he didn’t really have to. Congressional Democrats rarely dream up these crusades on their own. Somebody writes the talking points. Somebody hands over the opposition research. Somebody funds the “watchdog” groups that magically produce a fresh report every time a Republican ally needs roughing up.

The Daily Beast rushed out a story claiming the warning flopped, pointing to a handful of mocking replies under the post. But a few snarky comments on a platform Musk himself owns hardly count as a national referendum.

The Starlink Fight Democrats Want to Turn Into a Scandal

Ukraine sits at the center of the Democrat game plan.

Ukrainian forces reported Starlink disruptions in October, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said satellite-connected platforms lost their connection after topping roughly 100 miles per hour. The Telegraph, citing four unnamed sources, reported that Musk floated the limits to President Trump, who signed off on them.

The White House flatly rejects that account.

“It wasn’t me, and I don’t think it was Elon,” President Trump told reporters. Secretary of State Marco Rubio went even further. “Nobody ordered that Starlink speed to be slowed down,” Rubio said.

US Representative Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) has already picked the version she likes.

“What happens when one guy gets a giant contract from the government and then uses it to do something that shuts down communication in a war that has been extremely important to the United States to support Ukraine?” Jayapal asked in her Politico interview.

Jayapal’s question says plenty about Democrat priorities. She skipped right past the enormous tab American taxpayers have carried since 2022 and landed on her real concern, which is that somebody might have slowed down a war her party never seems in any hurry to end.

And all of this comes as President Trump presses both sides toward a negotiated peace, keeping the America First promise voters signed off on in 2024. Treating every hiccup on the battlefield as a potential crime tells readers exactly where Democrats stand on that effort.

US Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) has called for an investigation and for Musk to testify about his influence over national security. US Representative Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), a longtime champion of Ukraine aid, backed the idea. That pairing won’t surprise anyone who has watched the war-funding caucus operate across party lines for the last four years.

Democrats Have Run This Play Before

Democrats know this routine by heart.

They spent years turning every committee they controlled into an investigative weapon against Donald Trump. Two impeachments. Mountains of subpoenas. Blockbuster hearings that fizzled the second the cameras packed up.

Musk landed on the same list the moment he bought Twitter and started letting conservatives speak again. Then DOGE started reading the receipts at agencies like USAID, and Democrats found a fresh reason to despise him.

Funny how that works. The man who dug into how Washington spends money now faces investigations into how Washington spends money.

House Homeland Security Democrats already demanded that Musk testify under oath about a watchdog report claiming DOGE overstated its savings. Ways and Means Democrats want a probe into what they describe as data theft from Social Security records. None of them hold a gavel yet.

But that’s the whole point. They’re telling voters exactly how a Democrat Congress would spend its time.

Not on grocery prices. Not on the border. Not on crime in the cities they run. Two years of hauling the GOP’s top donor in front of cameras, all while the same members swear they have zero interest in lawfare.

Maybe Musk overplayed his hand with the puppet line. Vows to “come for” people make perfect fodder for cable news panels, and his critics will squeeze every drop out of it for weeks.

But he isn’t wrong about the basic dynamic. When a party announces a pile of investigations into one man before winning a single seat, the investigations come first and the justification gets backfilled later.

And Musk has never shown much interest in folding. He has the platform, the money, and the stubbornness to drag every subpoena fight into broad daylight.

Whoever is pulling the strings probably knows that too.
