Rep. Ilhan Omar has spent months accusing law enforcement of targeting her family.
Now the tables have turned in a way nobody saw coming.
Minneapolis police raided the apartment of Omar’s son Adnan Hirsi, seized guns and ammunition, and walked out with his roommate in handcuffs.
What Happened at the Apartment on Marquette Avenue
According to multiple law enforcement sources who spoke with Alpha News, Minneapolis police executed a search warrant at an apartment Hirsi reportedly shares with 22-year-old Abdulrahman Abdi.
The chain of events started earlier that same day with a routine traffic stop.
Officers cited Abdi for driving after his license was canceled and for failing to provide proof of insurance, then released him at the scene. When police impounded his vehicle, they found a firearm inside.
That discovery sent officers tracking Abdi back to the Marquette Avenue apartment, where they arrested him, according to Alpha News.
Abdi was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on a weapons charge and later released, according to jail records.
Guns and ammunition were recovered from inside the apartment during the search. The Minneapolis Police Department declined to comment when reached by Fox News Digital, though the department did confirm Abdi’s arrest.
Neither Adnan Hirsi nor Rep. Omar was implicated in any wrongdoing. No charges were filed against either of them.
Social Media Erupts — and the Backstory Gets Complicated
The story lit up X within hours of Alpha News breaking it, and the reaction from conservative commentators was swift.
Right-wing activist Benny Johnson wrote, “Not a good look for Ilhan Omar.”
Commentator Gunther Eagleman called to “deport Ilhan Omar and her family.”
Eitan Fischberger, a former staff sergeant in the Israeli military and a current opinion columnist, put the incident in a longer list: “Ilhan Omar: Supports violent jihad. Ilhan’s daughter: Arrested during pro-Hamas campus riots; traveled to Cuba with a CCP-linked group. Ilhan’s son: Home raided by police; guns and ammunition seized.”
Former Trump advisors Corey Lewandowski and Sean Spicer shared the report without comment.
Steve Ferguson, a small business owner with nearly 300,000 followers on X, posted, “Nothing to see here. Move along.”
The story carries extra weight because of what happened just months earlier. Omar went public claiming her son had been stopped by ICE agents near a Target store and questioned about his citizenship. She described it as racial profiling and sent a formal letter to the Department of Homeland Security accusing federal agents of “blatant racial profiling” and “an egregious level of unnecessary force.”
Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons pushed back hard. He said, “ICE has absolutely zero record of its officers or agents pulling over Congresswoman Omar’s son.”
Lyons added, “It speaks volumes that Congresswoman Omar is leveling this accusation with absolutely zero proof.”
Omar told a CBS Twin Cities affiliate that her son had stopped at Target and was pulled over by ICE agents, but that once he was able to produce his passport, they let him go. ICE said that account never happened.
And now, months later, it is Minneapolis police — not federal immigration agents — who are executing a search warrant at that same son’s home and walking out with firearms.
What This Pattern Tells You About Ilhan Omar’s Record
Omar has built her entire political identity around the idea that law enforcement is the threat, that her family is the victim, and that anyone who questions her is engaged in racism or Islamophobia.
But the pattern keeps going the other direction.
She accused ICE of profiling her son. ICE said it never happened and had zero record of the stop. Now Minneapolis police have executed a search warrant at her son’s apartment and seized weapons.
Omar has long positioned herself as a champion of communities she claims are targeted by police. She has been a vocal critic of law enforcement, a supporter of defunding police departments, and one of the loudest voices in Congress demanding that federal immigration enforcement be scaled back or eliminated.
That posture gets harder to maintain when guns and ammunition are coming out of your son’s apartment.
To be clear about what the record shows: Adnan Hirsi was not arrested, was not charged, and has not been implicated in any wrongdoing. The arrest was of his roommate, Abdulrahman Abdi. Those facts matter and should be stated plainly.
But the location of the search warrant, the recovery of firearms, and the identity of the congresswoman whose son lives in that apartment are also facts. And they are facts that landed in the middle of a public record Omar herself created when she made the ICE stop a national story.
She chose to use her son as a political prop when it suited her. The public is now connecting dots she would rather leave unconnected.
The Daily Mail reported that Abdi has been convicted ten times in the past, mostly for misdemeanors, including speeding, fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, using a cellphone while driving, and failing to show proof of insurance.
Ten prior convictions. Weapons charges. Guns and ammunition pulled from the apartment. That is the company Adnan Hirsi was keeping in that Minneapolis apartment.
Omar has not commented publicly on the raid as of this writing. Her office did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on the incident.
The Minneapolis Police Department also declined to elaborate beyond confirming the arrest, saying its investigation remains ongoing.
But the political fallout is already running well ahead of the investigation.
Omar has made a career out of accusing law enforcement of targeting her family and her community. She has framed every encounter between her relatives and authorities as evidence of systemic bias. She has used those stories to raise money, generate headlines, and build a national profile as a progressive firebrand who stands up to a racist system.
The ICE story fell apart when the agency flatly denied it ever happened. Now the guns-and-ammo story is filling the space where that narrative used to be.
At some point, the pattern becomes the story. And the pattern here is that Ilhan Omar keeps telling the country that law enforcement is out to get her family, while law enforcement keeps showing up at addresses connected to her family for reasons that have nothing to do with politics.
The congresswoman who wanted ICE out of her son’s life now has Minneapolis police in his living room.
That is a fact she is going to have a very hard time explaining away.
