Trump is Still the King of the GOP
Trump dragged Darlene Graham to victory in the South Carolina Senate runoff.
Graham’s only qualification for the seat was that she was the late Lindsey Graham’s sister.
In a debate, she admitted she knew nothing about national security, had donated to state legislators who filibustered pro-Life legislation, and declared support for DEI programs.
In short, she reminded South Carolinians of all the negatives about Lindsey Graham’s RINO voting record without the decades of personal relationships that Graham built up.
All Darlene Graham had going for her was that Trump endorsed her for the seat out of his personal connection to Graham.
But in the end, that was enough as Trump’s endorsement dragged Graham to a narrow win over House Freedom Caucus member Ralph Norman.
CNN data analyst Harry Enten told viewers that before Trump endorsed Graham, prediction markets showed she had a minuscule chance of winning the race.
“According to the Kalshi Prediction Market, the chance to win the South Carolina special GOP Senate primary before the Trump endorsement. It was just 14 percent, just 14 percent. The reason why Darline Graham won that primary, won that nomination, is because of one name and one name only, Donald John Trump,” Enten stated.
Trump as the GOP Kingmaker
This primary season has proven one thing – and that’s that Republican voters want elected representatives to deliver Trump’s agenda.
Anyone they perceived as an obstacle to the Trump agenda was voted out of office, while anyone Trump endorsed most likely won.
The numbers backed up Trump’s grip on the GOP as Enten went on to explain that polls showed 53 percent of GOP voters said Trump was the President they admired most, nearly triple that who said Ronald Reagan and more than six times the number who listed Abraham Lincoln.
“You know, sometimes we have these polls and, you know, they’re favorable polls or approval polls, and they’re in the moment. But I just love this one. OK. The president Republicans most admire. It’s Donald Trump. This is a historic comparison
A majority of Republicans say 53 percent say he is the Republican president they most admire. Ronald Reagan, who traditionally has won that much, Donald Trump nearly triples up on this. Reagan at just 18 percent.
And then Abraham Lincoln, who by most historic accounts is the greatest president of all time. But Republicans say that the president that they most admire by, what is this, six, seven times as many. Donald John Trump at 53 percent, easily crushing Abe Lincoln at 8 percent. And the Elon Poll showed that he was the greatest president as well,” Enten stated.
The polls and the primary results both tell the same story.
