It was Bill Clinton’s turn in the barrel in the investigation into the Epstein files.
Former South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy knew he needed to speak out.
And Trey Gowdy spoke this damning truth about Bill Clinton that Republicans needed to hear.
Before the House Oversight Committee deposed Bill Clinton about his links to Jeffrey Epstein, Gowdy wanted his fellow Republicans to walk in clear-eyed.
Appearing on Fox News, Gowdy said Republicans needed to remember that it wasn’t easy to pin down Clinton, reminding viewers of Clinton’s famously trying to parse the definition of the word “is” during his Monica Lewsinksy testimony.
“We know what you say you didn’t do. Keep in mind, Bret, this is the same guy who managed to diagram the word ‘is’, which is almost impossible to diagram that word, but he did it,” Gowdy declared.
Gowdy said Clinton earned the nickname “Slick Willie” for a reason that Republicans needed to be precise with their questions if they hoped to get real answers.
“It’s legitimate to ask him. You’d better follow up with Bill Clinton, OK? Did you see it? What did you hear? What did other people tell you? Hearsay is completely admissible in an investigation like this one. They call him Slick Willie for a reason, Bret. I’m going to be interested in what the transcript has to say,” Gowdy added.
Gowdy’s warning proved prophetic.
In his opening statement, Clinton denied doing anything wrong.
“I know what I saw, and more importantly, what I didn’t see,” Clinton ranted. “I know what I did, and more importantly, what I didn’t do. I saw nothing, and I did nothing wrong.”
During his testimony, Republicans asked Clinton about the now-famous two pictures of his frolicking in a pool with an unidentified blonde woman.

Clinton was typically evasive.
“No,” Clinton said when asked if he was aware of the picture. “I don’t think I ever knew the photo was taken.”
Clinton told the committee he was “almost sure” the pictures were from a trip to Brunei that was the “last very long leg” of an Asian trip that Epstein and Maxwell traveled with him when he was working “on the AIDS issue.”
Clinton testified that Brunei was “a tiny place, but a very wealthy one,” and that the Sultan of Brunei “was a man that I had gotten to know well in my eight years as president.”
Clinton went on to say the Sultan “said he wanted to help me with my AIDS initiative,” and invited him to stay at the hotel where the picture was taken.
“He said, ‘I want you to stay at this hotel, and I hope you’ll use the, you know, pool,’” Clinton added. “So, I did, and then I got out and went to bed, exhausted.”
Gowdy led the Benghazi Subcommittee that exposed Hillary Clinton’s secret email server.
He understands how the Clintons operate.
And Republicans would have been wise to take his advice.
