Obama Thwarted 9/11 Justice
Terry Strada’s husband Tom was killed on September 11, 2001.
During the anniversary ceremony, victims’ family members read the names of their loved ones so their memories, and the memories of what happened on that day, are never forgotten.
Terry Strada took the opportunity to call out Barack Obama for abandoning the 9/11 families when he vetoed the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JAST) in 2016, a bill that allowed the families to sue Saudi Arabia over its government’s involvement in the attacks.
“Administration after administration, including leaders in front of us here today, chose to protect the Saudis instead of standing with the 9/11 families,” Strada declared. “They withheld evidence. They vetoed JASTA. They broke promises, both public and private. It has been one betrayal after another.
“President Trump can still change that,” Strada added.
Strada asserted about Saudi Arabia, “that if they want to be friends with the USA, they cannot continue to deny all of this, all of the pain, all of the destruction that we have all been suffering through.”
The Lawsuit
The victim’s family members maintain that the Saudi Arabian government helped facilitate the 9/11 attacks.
They point to the fact that Saudi national Omar al-Bayoumi helped two of the hijackers obtain an apartment in San Diego.
Accredited Saudi diplomat and imam at the King Fahd Mosque in California, Fahad al-Thumairy, had multiple contacts with al-Bayoumi.
The government is also still keeping 28 pages of the 9/11 commission report classified, believed to be because they implicate Saudi Arabia in the attacks as 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis.
Obama denied the 9/11 victims’ families justice and accountability.
But the families still hope President Trump will be their “champion.”
“Administration after administration has not done anything for us. In fact, they’ve blocked, blocked us every step of the way of getting justice,” Dennis McGinley, whose brother Danny died in the attacks on the World Trade Center, told Fox News Digital.
“President Trump has a unique, historic opportunity here to be a hero, be our champion, finally close the books on this American nightmare, which is now becoming an American embarrassment. It’s got to start,” McGinley added.
Trump has promised transparency on the 9/11 attacks.
“President Trump is leading the most transparent administration in history, which is why he authorized the declassification and release of hundreds of pages of documents related to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The President will always pay tribute to the American heroes we lost in the tragic September 11 attacks, their beautiful family members, and to the acts of heroism that defined that fateful day when the unbreakable spirit of the American people prevailed,” a statement from White House spokesperson Olivia Wales to Fox News Digital read.
The victim’s families, and all Americans, have a vested interest in finally seeing those 28 pages of the 9/11 report.
